Services on Metrolink’s Rochdale line are still suspended this morning following an incident at Monsall Tram station.

A 25-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious leg injuries after hit by a tram around 6.20 this morning.

Chief Inspector Gareth Parkin of GMP’s City of Manchester Team, said: “Thanks to the rapid response of the emergency services this morning, the man is currently receiving treatment in hospital for his injuries.

“If anyone witnessed the collision or has any information about it, please contact police.

“I’d like to thank people for their patience as we carry out our enquiries. There are currently closures in place that are affecting the running of the trams between Manchester and Rochdale and I’d advise anyone planning to travel today to check whether their journey is affected.”
