St Joseph’s RC Primary School, Heywood, has been chosen to sing live on the BBC for the Blue Peter Christmas Show.

Blue Peter has had a jam-packed year celebrating its 60th birthday and its 5000th episode and the Christmas episode will not be short of big entertainment with the 250 strong choir St Joseph’s are part of, taking centre stage.

The school’s key stage 2 choir are brimming with excitement that they are going to be performing live from the Media City studios in Salford.

The performance will be shown live on Thursday, 20 December 2018 and the school choir will spend the afternoon at the BBC studios where they will rehearse for this performance alongside BBC staff and Salvation Army choirs.

St Joseph’s will be singing ‘O Come all ye faithful’ for their special performance, one that the school have been perfecting in their weekly rehearsals.

Caroline Dunne, head teacher at St Joseph’s, said: “Our whole school community is both thrilled and excited to have been asked to participate in the Blue Peter Christmas Show. It came as a total surprise when they contacted us, but we did not hesitate in saying yes. We know that the whole experience for the children will be most memorable and it is a fitting treat for them after their hard work and commitment to our school choir; as they give up their free time to practice and perform.”

The show will be aired live on Thursday, 20 December 2018 at 5:30pm on the CBBC channel.
