ALL FM 96.9 is opening its doors to the community this Saturday 25th July to celebrate fifteen years of broadcasting.
The community radio station that broadcasts to South, East and Central Manchester is having a fundraising open day to help keep the station on the air for another 15 years. The station based on Albert Road in Levenshulme, Manchester will be open to the public from 10am this Saturday where visitors can tour the building and meet some of the dedicated volunteers and staff members who have kept the station going over the last fifteen years.
The station is also running a prize draw for all those who donate £5 or more with prizes including the chance to host your own show, two tickets to Bestival, a meal for two at Trove, tickets to the Royal Exchange as well as a whole host of other musical themed prizes.
As part of the celebrations ALL FM is also offering small businesses in Manchester a free advert. There are a limited number of spaces on offer so interested businesses can email ed@allfm.org.
Station Manager Ed Connole said “Our fifteen birthday is a real achievement and we’d like to celebrate with listeners old and new and the many people who have broadcast or have been helped by ALLFM. The prize draw gives everyone the chance to help ALLFM stay alive for another fifteen years and also win some great prizes”.
ALL FM is one of the longest running community radio stations in the UK with all volunteer presenters trained in-house by the radio station. Each year ALL FM trains over 100 people, the majority of whom may be classed as ‘vulnerable’. After training people are offered a regular slot on ALLFM, hence the diversity of presenters, shows and languages.
