The job hunting app that connects employers and jobseekers in minutes, today announces its launch in Manchester, its first city roll-out across the UK’s North-West.

After successful launches in London and Spain, Job Today now aims to get Manchester working in just 24 hours.
With 7.3% of those living in Manchester without work, unemployment lies above the UK average of 6%,  making Manchester the obvious next UK city to launch Job Today.

The app supports retail and hospitality businesses in finding staff quickly and reliably – making it the perfect app for anyone looking for a permanent position any time of year, or even for a short term summer job to support the rise in tourists visiting over the coming months.

Historically, job seekers have needed to carry stacks of CVs across the city, walking from shop to shop and potentially waiting weeks or months to hear back, if at all. Job Today changes the recruitment process entirely, meaning you will know if you’ve been shortlisted in just 24 hours – no CV’s and no canvassing.

In Greater Manchester, Job Today already have hundreds of jobs to apply for available on the app. Local company franchises such as Busaba Eathai, Patisserie Valerie and Zizzi, and pub retailer Greene King have already signed up, with many more to be announced in the coming weeks. Both local franchises and independents quickly discover the benefits of app based hiring.

Callum Swan, Assistant Manager at Mexican restaurant Chiquito at The Printworks Manchester, said: “We used to rely on walk in candidates, which was time consuming and would not involve much volume. Job Today brings us an average of 12+ daily applicants, and we have already arranged interviews within the same day! The app is super convenient and really easy to use.”

Bonnie McCarthy, HR Advisor at burger restaurant Archie’s in the popular student area around Oxford Street, said about Job Today: “An amazing way to navigate through an app that makes hiring a lot easier than traditional methods. Other job boards are very cluttered and pricey, whereas Job Today is a free and easy tool right in the palm of my hand.”

Since the service went live, Job Today has seen as many as 1000 job applications per day.

Polina Montano, co-founder and COO, said: “We want to help 1 million people get jobs by the end of this year and launching in the North-West is the next big step for that. Manchester is fast becoming one of the biggest business hubs in the UK and we want to help people connect with these businesses. The CV is dead so no one should have to carry around those stacks of paper that may never get seen – instead Job Today streamlines it down to one app and a 24 hour reply.”
