Freddie Flintoff to search for the UK’s toughest recruit in new BBC Two seriesSpecial Forces: Ultimate Hell Week.
In a new BBC Two series, some of the fittest men and woman around will face the toughest challenge of their lives when they take part in the recruitment week from hell. Who will be left standing on the ultimate military assault course?

Presented by Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff, this six-part series will see successful applicants take on gruelling tests used by some of the world’s harshest army regimes, from the Navy SEALs to the SAS, in a search to find the UK’s toughest recruit.

Participants will come under intense pressure. Their physical and mental endurance will be pushed to the limit. Viewers will witness what the mind and body are capable of and how these techniques separate the weak from the strong, and they will learn what it takes to be the ultimate soldier.

The ‘Hell Week ‘ has been especially constructed to reflect known selection process used by special forces across the globe including the US Navy SEALs, the Philippine’s NAVSOG (Naval Special Operations Group), the Russian Spetsnaz (Special Purpose Forces) as well as the UK’s SAS. These are physical and mental challenges designed to break the most hardened soldiers.

Kim Shillinglaw, Controller of BBC Two, says: “This lively new format for BBC Two will see participants tackling the toughest military training regimes from across the globe. Highlighting some of the most extreme selection processes in the world, it will be fascinating to see what sort of person survives to the end.”

Freddie Flintoff says: “I have always had an interest in the Armed Forces and what it takes, both physically and mentally. The contestants are going to be pushed to their very limits and it is going to be a great insight into what our Armed Forces go through on a daily basis.”

Each new day will bring a new living nightmare, with each challenge different from the last. The challenges will take place over a variety of terrains, with drill sergeants who will push the recruits to their limits.

Participants will have to endure constant exercise drills, impossible mind ‘games’ , lonely enforced marches, escape, interrogation drills and pain. The series will give a unique insight into who will endure and why. Viewers will discover what kind of person makes it through and who walks away.

The show will screen in the autumn of 2015.
