Micro-apartment specialist Inspired Homes has unveiled what is believed to be Greater Manchester’s largest micro-apartment development.

Fabrick in Cheadle Hulme, SK8 is a groundbreaking new development of 184 studio, one and two bedroom micro-apartments offering high quality, low cost accommodation to Manchester’s young professionals.

The apartments will include wood flooring, designer kitchens with stone worktops, designer bathrooms and 1GB Hyperoptic broadband. Residents will also have access to a communal rooftop terrace and a Wi-Fi Ready club lounge. Natural light and the feeling of space is enhanced through generous windows, with every square inch maximised using hallway-free design to deliver homes that are within reach of those on salaries in the region of £27,000 and £23,000 when Help to Buy becomes available in spring 2018.

Martin Skinner, Chief Executive of Inspired Homes, said: “Micro apartments offer the opportunity for young professionals to step onto the housing ladder, owning their own high tech, high spec space which is affordable because it is smaller. We anticipate huge demand from buyers keen to pay less in monthly mortgage repayments then they would to rent in the private sector, as well as investors looking to target Manchester’s young professional rental market.

“With growth of the sharing economy and more possessions like music and film collections stored in the Cloud, it is now much easier to live in smaller apartments than it was in the past. In response, our provision of superfast 1Gb Hyperoptic broadband and residents’ facilities such as rooftop terraces and club lounges means we’re giving buyers micro living with macro lifestyle. With new flexible furniture solutions such as desks that transform into dining tables buyers can get creative and make their space work smarter.”

The micro-apartments at Fabrick range in size from 30 sqm (323 sq ft) to 38 sqm (409 sq ft) for a one-bedroom apartment and 49 sqm (527 sq ft) to 57 sqm (614 sq ft) for a two-bedroom apartment, on average 40% smaller than a standard sized new-build apartment. There is also a 26 sqm (280 sq ft) studio apartment. All apartments feature hallway-free design to maximise space as well as plenty of built-in storage.

Designed by Falconer Chester Hall Architects, the development will see a disused 1960s office building stripped back to its core and transformed into a landmark residential block with an all new contemporary façade featuring aluminium cladding and brickwork.

The development sits moments from Cheadle Hulme railway station for direct trains to Manchester Piccadilly in just 16 minutes and Stockport in only six minutes. Manchester Airport is a 10-minute drive and is home to the new £800m Airport City Manchester development and its £130m ‘China Cluster’.

Apartments at Fabrick are now available off-plan, with the development due for completion winter 2018. Prices start at £120,000 for a ground floor studio apartment and £132,500 for a one-bedroom apartment. Help to Buy will be available from spring 2018.
