Head to Dunham Massey’s historic servant’s courtyard during the daytime this Christmas and enjoy festive activities for all the family.

Visitors can get creative with craft activities, play games and join in with storytelling at weekends. There’ll also be chance to see previously unseen objects from Christmases past, all uncovered from Dunham’s archives. Younger visitors will be able to explore the park and garden on a seasonal trail and claim their prize.

“Step back in time to enjoy an Edwardian Christmas at Dunham Massey” says Visitor Experience Officer Milly Greenall. “Enjoy a magical day out with the chance to explore the servants’ quarters in the house and see them decorated in all their festive glory for the Christmas season.”

Challenge family and friends to traditional board games in the head laundry maid’s room and join in with Christmas craft activities in the laundry. Visit at weekends to enjoy seasonal storytelling in the dairy.

Visit the dairy and take your photograph on Father’s Christmas’ sleigh. Be sure to post him a letter whilst you’re there! Head to the milk room to learn about Edwardian Christmas traditions and add your own Christmas tradition alongside Dunham Massey’s family stockings.

Head to the butler’s pantry to explore Dunham’s collection and see historic objects from Christmases past discovered in Dunham’s archives.

Younger visitors can also step back in time on the children’s trail and help Edwardian children, Roger and Jane who lived at Dunham over a hundred years ago. Their dog, Buzz has hidden their toys across the park and garden. Find all the toys and claim your prize!

Escape the high street hubbub at Dunham Massey’s shop and enjoy an extra special shopping experience this Christmas. Browse the extensive range of cards, gifts and decorations in relaxed, festive surroundings. Find the perfect present for family and friends including unique produce from local food and drink suppliers.

Visitors can also make the most of their festive day out at Dunham by returning to the garden after-dark for Christmas at Dunham Massey- a trail of thousands of lights set to the sights and sounds of Christmas. With tickets selling fast there is still some limited availability to experience these magical illuminations.

Christmas Courtyard at Dunham Massey runs Saturday 24 November- Sunday 23 December 11am- 3.30pm

Everyone needs a ticket to visit the Christmas Courtyard. Tickets are free for National Trust members. Non-member tickets cost £12.50 for adults (including gift aid or £11.25 standard) and £6.25 for children (including gift aid or £5.60 standard). Under 5’s go free. The children’s Christmas trail costs £2 a child (including National Trust members). Collect your tickets at Visitor Reception. Please note that the Christmas Courtyard does not include a meet Father Christmas event.
