A brand new art gallery has opened just two weeks ago in a beautiful listed building in historic Castlefield.

Saul Hay Gallery is the brainchild of Ian and Catherine Hall, who after years as collectors and enthusiasts of contemporary art, took the plunge earlier in October and opened their New Contemporary Art Gallery.

Catherine has given up her job with the NHS to work full time and the Gallery which is situated in the Castlefield Heritage area on the Rochdale canal in an old building which the pair believe used to be the offices for a saw mill.

The pair aim to be an integral part of the art scene of Manchester. They are currently showing a range of contemporary painting, sculpture and mixed media including John Moores Painting Prize 2016 Finalists Mandy Payne and Enzo Marra, MRBS sculptors Patricia Volk and Jo Taylor, painters Paul Bennett, Mandy Matyas, and Josie Jenkins, Catherine Harrison’s pen and ink drawings and Omid Asadi’s intricate cut leaf works.
