GRUB’s 100% vegan street food event GRUB ExtraVEGANza is returning for 2019.
To help us embrace the new year challenge of going vegan for a month as part of ‘Veganuary’ the regular city centre street food event will be supplying the usual top notch street food, amazing beers and smashing drinks with the complete absence of animal products. The event has even expanded to a three day fest and increased the number of traders this year in the face of an incredible growth in the popularity of veganism.
According to recent reports a third of all British people are now vegan, vegetarian or flexitarian (a largely vegetable-based diet supplemented occasionally with meat) and the Veganuary campaign has more than doubled in size every year with over 250,000 people signing up to take part in 2019 .
Manchester has become a vegan hotspot in recent years with a wide array of 100% vegan eateries popping up and GRUB themselves launched the first ever weekly vegan street food market ‘Plant Powered Sundays’ 2 years all this alongside the mainstream restaurants and grocers embracing plentiful, quality vegan options.
To really show off how amazing vegan food can be GRUB has put together a fantastic selection of traders all cooking up special vegan menus for the festival including beautiful Latin American food from Yakumama, perfect patisserie from Chou Choux, fresh waffles from Sugar Spun Sisters, kebabs from Seitan’s Kebab and the junkiest of junk foods from local vegan heroes Wholesome Junkies who were recently featured on BBC2’s Million Pound Menu. Alongside the grub there will be 14 lines of 100% vegan beers from local breweries on cask and keg plus the usual selection of wines, ciders, hand made sodas, soft drinks, hot drinks and spirits.

We’re super happy to be providing a great end of Veganuary knees up to celebrate with new vegans, food fans who have been vegan for years or just folk who want to try out some smashing vegan food!”
The Grub ExtraVEGANza takes place on Friday 25th January 5pm – 10pm, Saturday 26th January 12pm – 10pm and Sunday 27th January 12pm – 6pm.
