Award-winning playwright, actor and singer Tayo Aluko brings Just An Ordinary Lawyer, a play that has been performed around the UK and internationally, to Waterside Arts Centre in Sale on Wednesday 11 October.

The play – written and performed by Aluko, with live piano accompaniment – uses the story of Britain’s first Black judge, Nigerian Tunji Sowande, to look at the history of Western imperialism and Black liberation struggles worldwide, occasionally venturing into that explosive world in which sport (particularly cricket) and politics collide.

Tayo Aluko, who has been travelling around the world with his first award-winning play Call Mr. Robeson for ten years said:

‘I am so pleased to be returning to Waterside with my new play. Whether people are interested in music, cricket, politics or history, I find that they love the way all these elements show how we are all connected, wherever and whoever we are.’
