The driver, who is believed to be in his 20s has been killed on Princess Parkway in the early hours of this morning after the car he was driving collided with a tree.

The grey Lexus IS 220 was driving away from the city on Princess Parkway when it left the road near to the junction of Paletine Road.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, three other passengers,all men, were taken to hospital with serious and minor injuries.

The A5103 was closed for around six hours while collision investigators assessed the scene and carried out enquiries.

PC Paul Shore, from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This morning a man sadly lost his life as a result of this collision and we want to understand exactly what happened.

“Thankfully no one else is in a life-threatening condition and we are speaking to the passengers in the car to get their accounts of what happened.

“However, I would still appeal to the public for any information and particularly if you have dash-cam of the incident itself or beforehand.”
