Did you witness an elderly woman getting her bag snatched in Mossley?

Greater Manchester Police are keen to speak to a two men who may have seen the 70-year-old get thrown to the ground near to Chutney Masala Restaurant, Manchester Road, about 10.30pm on Friday 3 March.

She was waiting for a friend when the attacker approached her from behind.He then grabbed her handbag and threw the victim to the floor before dragging her across the ground.

It is believed he ran off towards Mossley town centre following the attack.

The woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries and continues to recover at home.

The attacker is described as white, of medium height, slim build, in his late 20s to early 30s and about 5ft 8ins tall.

Detective Constable David Montgomery, from GMP’s Tameside borough, said: “This was a vicious unprovoked attack on a vulnerable woman.

“The victim sadly suffered a serious head injury and although she is on the mend, this attack has left her very frightened.

“We are keen to speak to the two men who potentially saw what happened but left the scene before being able to pass over their details.”
