National League action makes its eagerly anticipated return to the National Speedway Stadium this Wednesday, August 9th, with the Plymouth Devils making the long journey north to Manchester.

Like Belle Vue, the Devils are another team to be granted a brand-new lease of life in 2017 after new owners completely revamped the St Boniface outfit; with more long-term plans still to play out.

During the course of the campaign, the club has managed to attract some very experienced and familiar names to their ranks, including Steve Boxall and former Workington Comet, Adam Roynon.

Despite their league ranking, they are sure to provide top four contenders the Cool Running Colts with ample amount of challenges between them, but the home team are prepared for their assault.

With Rob Shuttleworth unavailable and captain Lee Payne still side-lined through injury, the hosts have called on Jon Armstrong as their guest at No.3, while R/R will be in effect for Payne at No.5.

Team boss, Steve Williams, said: “Plymouth have got some vastly experienced guys amongst their top five who certainly have the potential to do well around our place so we will not be complacent.

“As we approach the business end of the season the competition at the top is getting fierce, and though they’re not amongst the Play Off contenders they’ve just as much to prove as we have.

“We’re all well aware of the quality Adam Roynon, Steve Boxall and even Benji Compton are capable of producing so we’ll need to be ready to counter whatever curveballs they see fit to throw our way.

“Obviously it’s frustrating for us not to have Lee and Rob, but we’ve got the necessary firepower to cover R/R and with Job Armstrong as our guest, there’s no reason we can’t get the job done.”

There’s even more action in Manchester this week when the King’s Lynn Stars take on the Rentruck Aces on August 11th. Tickets for this and the Colts’ fixture are available atwww.bellevueaces.co.
