Jodrell Bank is celebrating its 70 years with a month-long programme of events and exhibitions.
The programme is part of the Heritage Lottery Fund supported project First Light at Jodrell Bank, and gives visitors the chance to learn the stories behind this unique site through walking tours, heritage trails, bicycle rides, reminiscence days, planetarium sessions, heritage science shows, and a special exhibition.
The story of Jodrell Bank exhibition runs thru August.Jodrell Bank has held centre stage in radio astronomy since its beginnings 70 years ago, and it continues to make scientific discoveries which challenge our knowledge and understanding of the Universe..This special exhibition celebrates Jodrell Bank’s contribution to scientific research and explores its relationship with the local community.
The Amazing Story of Jodrell Bank tells the stories behind the world famous Lovell telescope and find out how a quiet rural outpost became home to some of humanity’s most significant scientific discoveries.
