Police investigating a rape of a 26 year old women Gorton in the early hours of Bank Holiday  have released CCTV.

The woman left The Cotton Tree Pub on Cross Lane, accompanied by a man.

The man and woman walked to Burtinshaw Street, where he dragged her in to a garden and raped her before fleeing in an unknown direction.

The offender is described as Asian, around 28-to-30-years-old, 5ft 10in tall and was wearing a dark baseball cap and a dark hooded top.

Police have released a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak to in connection with this investigation.

Detective Sergeant Nicole Charlton of GMP’s Serious Sexual Offences Unit, said: “It shouldn’t matter whether it is day or night; no one should feel unsafe or be taken advantage of in this way, ever.

“Specialist officers are looking after the victim and ensuring she has the support she needs.

“If you were in the local area around the time of the attack and saw a man matching the description or if you recognise the man on the CCTV image, please get in touch as your information could prove vital to our investigation.

“I would also like to appeal directly to the man. If this is you, I would urge you to call police immediately.”
