Every year Manchester Cathedral receives hundreds of amazing photographs of Manchester Cathedral in its annual Capture the Cathedral photography competition. With just over two weeks left before the closing date, there is still time for you to submit your entry.

The Capture the Cathedral competition has produced some absolutely stunning images of one of the oldest buildings in Manchester. It is open to absolutely everyone; whether or not you fancy yourself as the next David Bailey, are studying photography at school or college or just happen to be visiting. Photographers of all ages, backgrounds and experience levels are invited to ‘Capture the Cathedral’ in different and imaginative ways.

Photographs can be entered in three categories, Architecture and Stained Glass, The Cathedral at Night or Something Different.

The overall winner will be ‘The Official Photographer for Manchester Cathedral 2017’ and will be invited to photograph a variety of events at Manchester Cathedral throughout the year. Their winning photograph will be exhibited in the Capture the Cathedral Exhibition and they will receive a meal for two courtesy of Banyan and the Corn Exchange.

The judging panel for 2017 includes MEN photographer, Vincent Cole, BBC Radio Manchester presenter, Mike Shaft and Grant Mitchell from Transmission Creative. The panel will chose a winner in each category and select one of them as the overall winner.

The winners in each category and the overall competition winner will be announced at the launch of the Capture the Cathedral exhibition on Friday 4 August at 6.30pm. The photographs will be on display until Sunday 3 September with members of the public getting the opportunity to vote for their favourite photo.

So why not come and see if you can “Capture the Cathedral”?
