Ten man Droylsden finished on the wrong end of a seven goal thriller against Kendal Town at a wet Butcher’s Arms in a game that turned on a controversial sending off in the first half of Stoke loanee Ed Dryden.

Dryden got his marching orders after the referee judged that he pulled down Jordan Connerton on the edge of the area and the subsequent penalty put the away team in front.

Droylsden started with an unchanged team from the win last Saturday against Scarborough but after lively start went behind after Nathan Bondswell pounced on the rebound after a great save from Steve James.

The Bloods were level minutes later after full back Ben Barber’s shot was deflected past keeper Tom Morgan.

Injured Centre half Jacob Wood was replaced soon by Ben Hampson and soon after Kendal were back in front from the controversial penalty, Sam Bailey converting.

Kendal started the second half the better team, Bloods keeper Steve James denying the away team but eight minutes into the second half Jordan Connerton made it three for the Mintcakes after good work from Nathan Bondswell.

Dan Wilkins made it four on sixty seven minutes latching onto a through ball and slotting past James in the Droylsden goal.

However the Bloods were not finished. Lee O’Brien pulled one back heading home from a Ben Barber corner and on the stroke of normal time last week’s hat trick hero Domaine Rouse made it 4-3.

However the away side held on to take the three points.

The defeat leaves the Bloods in eighteenth place in the table with seventeen points from nineteen games.

They travel to Ossett Town next Saturday.
