Rochdale have announced the signing of Billy Knott on loan from Lincoln City until the end of the season.

Speaking to the Rochdale website, the 25-year-old said he is delighted to have joined the club.

“I’m buzzing, to be honest,” commented Knott.

“I’ve seen the way the Gaffer plays football, his style of play, and it suits me. I trained today and really enjoyed it.The boys are full of confidence and it was a really good standard. It was nice and enjoyable.

“My last few moves probably haven’t been to passing teams, so I’m like a little kid again and I can’t wait to get passing the ball, moving it quickly and making movements off the ball. I’m looking forward to it.”

Knott began his career at Sunderland, from where he enjoyed loan spells at AFC Wimbledon, Woking, Wycombe Wanderers and Port Vale.

The midfielder joined Bradford City in 2014, where he was an integral member of the squad that reached the quarter-final of the FA Cup, before signing for Gillingham in the summer of 2016.

He spent the end of last season on loan at Lincoln, helping them achieve promotion back to the Football League, before signing permanently for the Imps in June.
