Police are appealing for information following an armed robbery in Audenshaw which took place a week ago

Three offenders armed with a hammer and a knife entered the One Stop Shop on Droylsden Road just after 11.15pm on the 11th Sept

They threatened staff with the weapons, demanding they hand over cash from the safe. The offenders’ then grabbed one of the staff members, hit him on the head with a hammer and slashed his arm with a knife, before dragging him behind the shop counter.

The men then threatened a female member of staff and demanded that she open the safe. One of the offenders threatened all three members of staff and forced them to sit on the floor, while the other two offenders’ emptied the safe.

The offenders attended the shop in a grey 4×4 Volvo, and were seen leaving in the same vehicle in the direction of Kershaw lane.

Detective Constable Matthew Elliott, of GMP’s Tameside borough, said: “Thankfully the injuries to the staff are not serious but they have been left understandably shaken by this incident.

“It is not acceptable that hard-working people should be subject such a terrifying ordeal, and will do everything we can to find those responsible and ensure they are held to account for what they have done.

“I want to appeal to anyone who either witnessed the robbery, or has information about what happened, to please contact police immediately.”
