A NEW book by Manchester School of Art lecturer Simone Ridyard shows how you can become part of the global community of “urban sketchers”.
The book, titled Archisketcher, has been published in both the UK and the US and covers not only drawing techniques but also architectural styles and guides to iconic landmarks with pictures by several artists.

Simone said: “Because I teach perspective drawing with my Interior Design students at the School of Art, it seemed like a very exciting opportunity to get my work in print and also use work by other urban sketchers whose work I admire – everyone in the book I think is fantastic.

“It’s been really good to articulate the way I teach drawing, a really involving experience, I really enjoyed the process of seeing how a book comes together from spreads to proofs, and I love the British cover.”

Simon describes writing the book, which is published by RotoVision, as “a great opportunity” and reviews have already been very positive.
