The two will meet in a must-win British lightweight battle on October 7th at the Manchester Arena.

Manchester’s Crolla stopped  Barleys Perez to claim the WBA lightweight belt in 2015, but he was unable to regain the title defeated by Jorge Linares in March this year having lost the title to him the previous September.

Burns’ last outing saw the Scot lose his WBA super-lightweight title to Julius Indongo in April.

Crolla told Sky Sports who will be broadcasting the fight:

“All I want to do is be involved in big fights and Ricky Burns is a three weight world champion. I’ve got a lot of respect for him. He’s a great fighter and only lost to the very best.”

Manchester Arena remains closed following the suicide bombing at an Ariana Grande concert on 22 May, which killed 22 people.
