Love Eccles Festival has teamed up with The Lowry to bring top quality theatre direct to Eccles Town Centre in the form of Roundabout.
This mobile theatre from Paines Plough is popping up next to Eccles Parish Church on Church Street hosting excellent theatre direct from Edinburgh Fringe Festival, as well as local community events straight from Eccles.

Throughout the four day festival The Lowry and Paines Plough are proud to present three outstanding plays direct from Edinburgh.

Poldark’s Luke Norris will showcase ‘Growth’, which recently won a prestigious Fringe First award. Award winning writer Katie Douglas will present ‘I Got Superpowers for My Birthday’, perfect for all the family. Finally, from writer Alan Harris comes ‘Loves, Lies and Taxidermy’, which received critical acclaim at Edinburgh Fringe Festival with BritishTheatre.com awarding it 5 stars.

Visitors to the festival will also be able to watch local home grown talent. Salford born Melissa Woodburn started up her own theatre company after working towards an Arts Award qualification at The Lowry. Her company Honeycomb Theatre and The Lowry engagement team will present ‘Salford’s Taste of Honey’ at the festival. And, Eccles based Barton Theatre Company will perform ‘Up Your Street’.

Cllr David Lancaster, chair of Eccles Festival Committee said: “I am delighted that Eccles Festival encourages local people to discover the treasures in their own community and that our festival positively affects people’s sense of wellbeing, belonging and civic pride.”

Cllr Lisa Stone, chair Eccles Town Team said “Eccles Town Team are thrilled that another exciting Festival is being located in the town centre again. With the addition of the Makers Market and Roundabout this is an event not to be missed with something for everyone”

Julia Fawcett OBE, chief executive of The Lowry, said: “It’s a pleasure to be part of a project that takes theatre beyond the venue directly to the heart of the community, ultimately giving as many people as possible the opportunity to watch new original work that will entertain and inspire them.

It’s also great to be able to expand our current audiences and we’re hopeful that Roundabouts appearance at Love Eccles Festival will be the catalyst to encourage more people to engage with a range of performance regularly across the city.”

Love Eccles Festival is a community festival that brings Eccles Town Centre alive with street acts, live music, a teenage market, shopping, festival stalls, car boot sale and funfair.
