Droylsden fans hearts were left shattered by a last minute winner by Gainsborough Trinity after the Bloods had fought back after being three goals down in this FA Cup Third Qualifying Round tie.

Second half sub Matt Wilson’s first goal for the club was the dividing line between the two teams in what was by far the Bloods best performance of the season as they dominated much of the play against a team two divisions higher.

The home team found themselves behind after eleven minutes when Natham Jarman lobbed Craig Ellison  and the same player made it 2-0 on twenty three minutes with the volley from the edge of the area after some indifferent defending by Droylsden.

But the home team began to settle and created a number of chances. Mike Koral denied by keeper Jan Budtz on the half hour mark after being put through by Fernando Moke, a short range shot by Brandon Zibaka was turned behind for a corner and the same player combined with Steve Hall shortly after only for Droylsden’s captain to shot tamely at the keeper.

Droylsden looked the stronger team as half time approached but on the stroke of the whistle Marc Newsham with a free header from a Jamie Yates cross made it three.

The fightback began in the second half. A Moke shot deflected behind for an early corner and shortly after a shot from the same player was parried by the keeper only for Brandon Zibaka to score from the rebound.

Two fine saves from Budtz kept Droylsden out and substitute Clarke Adams who had come on for Wood headed just over the bar.

Bloods made a second substitution replacing Mike Koral with Dan Parkinson and James Hampson for Brandon Zibaka and continued to press for a second. Again Moke was denied by the keeper but a superb finish by the same player brought to score to 3-2.

It was all Droylsden now and their attacking substitutions paid off with Hamoson scoring with four minutes of normal time left.

Trinity now responded, Jarman’s shot saved by Ellison for a corner and two minutes later Wilson had claimed the winner.

Droylsden captain Steve Hall was sent off for a second book able offence in injury time but Bloods will surely take this performance as a turning point in their disappointing season to date.
