Tony Spink, owner of Bolton based neon sign studio Neon Creations, is realising a dream as he announces that his work will be displayed in an exhibition at Manchester’s Artzu Gallery.

The company which was established in 2005 specialises in the design and manufacture of custom made neon signs and lights.

They produce mainly one-off custom designs for a client base which ranges from retail, leisure, music, design/ad agencies, events and domestic clients.

Well-known clients include singer Lucy Spraggan, dirty food pioneers Solita, Peter Crouch and Abbey Clancy and Missguided.

Tony, who was born and bred in South East London, learnt his skills with a large sign company where he started as a trainee in 1989. He fell in love with the product and realised there was so much more that could be done with it, then once again he fell in love – this time with his now wife Catherine – and moved up to Manchester in 2001.

Tony has created 20 bespoke pieces some of which will be exhibited alongside acrylic and resin based art by Stephen Farley in the city centre exhibition which will open on Wednesday 8 November and run for two weeks.

Catherine who is Tony’s partner in Neon Creations, said; “We set up the business as Tony was frustrated with the companies he worked for as he wasn’t getting the chance to be as creative as he would like. He was fed up making repetitive work so I told him to stop moaning about it, and let’s do something about it, so we did!”

Tony added; “More recently I have been wanting to do my own thing again and create my own designs rather than always be working to a brief from clients. So again – I did. I set aside a day a week to work on my own pieces. I have been looking for a platform to show off my work and by chance met Charles Blair from Artzu and the opportunity arose!”

Tony’s pieces will be available for sale priced from £1k upwards. The exhibition will launch with a VIP evening on Wednesday 8 November
