A 57-year-old pedestrian has been killed in Stockport after being hit by a motorbike on Great Egerton Street.

The accident happened yesterday evening around 7.20,the motorbike, a black Kawasaki was travelling along Great Egerton Street towards Bredbury.

The motorbike rider, an 18-year-old man, was taken to hospital where he is currently being treated for his injuries.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.

Police Constable Dermot Murray, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Tragically a man lost his life as a result of this collision and we have specially trained officers supporting his family at this horrendous time.

“We are working tirelessly to understand the exact circumstances surrounding this incident and the carriageway was closed for four hours last night while investigation work was carried out at the scene.

“I would urge anyone who witnessed the collision or has any information or dashcam footage to please get in touch.
