A 48-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning after the body of a women was found in Chadderton yesterday.

The women, believed to be in her fifties, was found at property at Argyll Road.

Enquiries into the full circumstances around this incident are ongoing but it is believed that this was a domestic dispute .

Detective Inspector John Mulvihill of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “We are still very much in the early stages of our investigation but we will do everything in our power to get the answers her family deserve.

“My thoughts go out to them at this difficult time and even though we’ve made an arrest, our enquiries continue.

“If you were in the area late on Saturday morning and saw anything that could help with our investigation, please get in touch as soon as you can.”
